BACKGROUND
Born and raised in New York City, a third-generation painter in a family of well-known artists, writers and musicians, including his mother, painter and poet Mirel Bercovici and grandmother, painter and sculptor Naomi LiBrescu. Named after his grandfather, noted author and journalist Konrad Bercovici, the family’s circle included a veritable Who’s Who of creative lights from the last century.

The late artist’s work was featured multiple times in the popular music magazine Spin. Fans of his work who included him in their collections included Abraham Walkowitz, Martin Greene of the Gilbert and Sullivan D’Oyly Carte and many of his League teachers and fellow students. An early admirer of his work, Walkowitz also became a friend and mentor to the young artist.

Predominantly free-expressionist and semi-abstact figurative work in oil, oil stick, pencil and pen, his color is strong, his graphics bold in a unique style that critics have called both important, yet highly accessible. Fellow artists have also marveled at the palette, wit, originality and total visual confidence of this truly
modern artist.
